Youth Sports Coach

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Independent Family Branch YMCA is looking for energetic, positive leaders who are comfortable coaching or refereeing sports and activities.  Experience coaching basketball is preferred.  

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:

Must be available to work evenings and weekends, at least 12 hours per week  Areas of interest include Soccer, Flag Football, Gymnastics, Rock Climbing, Floor Hockey, and Volleyball.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Responsible for the setup and breakdown of the program area and for the maintenance and control of supplies and equipment.
2. Implements sports program activities according to the plan and schedule. Ensures YMCA program standards are met.
3. Ensures the safety of participants.
4. Ensures effective communication with participants, parents, staff, and volunteers.
5. Records participant attendance, skill level achievement, and other required information.
6. Follows department protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of program/work areas.
7. Enforces safety rules and reports and treats any injuries.
8. Distributes and collects program satisfaction surveys.
9. Attends and participates in required staff meetings and trainings sessions
10. Completes additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Excellent communication skills.
2. Knowledge and experience in the appropriate sports skills.
3. Ability to effectively lead and supervise youth groups.
4. Strong customer services skills.
