Cook/Server 

Reports to: Executive Chef 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

Compensation: $14/hr

Job Summary:  

As a Cook and/or Server, you will be involved in the preparation, service, cleanup, maintenance, and compliance of the food service operation of the campus. The ideal candidate for this position has proven experience in a cook or serving role and outstanding organizational and communication skills.  

 

Priority responsibilities include: 

Serving: 

  • Serve all meals in accordance with the highest standards of quality and sanitation 

  • Ensure food is presented in a professional manner and at proper temperature  

  • Maintain proper food storage and preparation including: 

  • Label stored food per health department regulations 

  • Assure no cross contamination 

  • Follow the rule of “First In, First Out” 

  • Provide excellent service to both internal and external customers 

  • Assist with setup, preparation, service and cleanup of all meals 

  • Wash and put away dishes 

  • Accept deliveries and put away stock as needed 

  • Wash, dry, fold and dry kitchen towels and aprons 

  • Assist in keeping all food service and storage areas neat and tidy including: 

  • Proper rotation of food 

  • Cleaning of inside of refrigerators as needed 

  • Cleaning of floors on a daily basis 

  • Empty trash cans and take trash to dumpster 

  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to tend to priority needs 

  • Complete trainings as assigned 

  • Embody brand values by fostering a growth mindset, demanding integrity from self and others, setting higher standards and working together 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Cooking: 

  • Prepare all meals in accordance with the highest standards of quality and sanitation  

  • Ensure food is prepared in a nutritional and appetizing fashion 

  • Responsible for kitchen sanitation 

  • Maintain supplies and equipment related to food storage, preparation, service, and cleanup 

  • Operate industrial cooking equipment and grills 

 

Requirements: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High school diploma/GED required, Culinary degree preferred 

  • 1-3 years of experience in a high-volume, high-quality (fine dining/hospital/skilled nursing facility, etc) environment based on degree and previous experience cooking a variety of cuisines 

  • FirstAid/CPR required 

  • ServSafe/Management certificate required 

  • Level 1 required for MS facilities 

  • Level 2 required for TX, MA and OH facilities 

  • Team player who is motivational and has excellent communications skills 

  • Must enjoy working with a diverse population 

  • Knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards 

  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment  

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; judgement; and decision-making ability 

  • Flexibility with schedule, including availability to work on-call, nights and weekends 

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk and reach continually 

  • Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch frequently 

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 75 lbs. 

  • Ability to use hands and fingers, talk or hear 

  • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled 

  • Moderate noise levels as found in a kitchen environment
