The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Day Camp Worker for the North Texas Youth Education Town, located in Arlington, TX.


Job Summary:


Leads youth activities at a day camp program, including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, Bible study, computer programs and specialized programs; prepares and serves children lunch and snacks; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the program areas; transports passengers in a Salvation Army vehicle.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development.


Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children.


Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.


Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general childhood education curriculum.


Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.


Ability to serve as a role model with physical and emotional health adequate to meet the demands of the position.


Education and Experience:


High school diploma or G.E.D., and one to two years’ experience teaching child development programs,, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Licenses/Certifications:


Valid State Driver’s License


CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)


 


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:


Ability to meet attendance requirements.


Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.


Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.


Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely observing all laws, regulations, and policies.


Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing and walking on a frequently changing basis.


Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
