Building Maintenance Worker
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a great opportunity for a Building Maintenance worker/Groundkeeper for the Evangeline Booth Training College in Atlanta, GA. Job Summary
Perform a variety of groundskeeping work to maintain the beautification of grounds surrounding the ‘Salvation Army buildings, trim trees/shrubs, blows leaves and debris from sidewalks and parking lots; perform minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repair work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of general building and grounds maintenance practices and procedures
Ability to learn by the method of on-the-job training including ability to follow instructions.
Ability to perform routine and minor repair and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds.
Ability to use and maintain maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stopping, standing, and some climbing.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D
Licenses and Certifications
Valid state driver's license
Requirements and Working Conditions
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather conditions or discomfort associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
