Young Adult & Mission Deployment Program Coordinator
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for an Young Adult & Mission Deployment Program Coordinator for the Southern Territory Headquarters, located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Job Summary
Plans, develops, leads, coordinates, and promotes ideas on conducting successful Young Adult Ministries programs to include College Ministries, Urbana Mission Conference, Asbury Visitation Weekend, Advocacy Promotion, Pre-College Counseling, Military and Mentoring, The Bridge, and Salvation Army Speak Out (SAYSO) Programs. Works with the Territorial Youth Secretary to plan and execute the Salvationist Service Corps & Quarterly short-term mission trips. Travels extensively throughout the Southern Territory to implement, promote supervise and monitor effectiveness of assigned programs. Publishes young adult program opportunities quarterly throughout the Southern Territory; prepares and produces an organized resource manual outlining proper start-up methods for college ministries in other areas throughout the territory; prepares and edits material for the Young Adult Ministries section of the territorial Web site; prepares, edits, and distributes a bimonthly student newsletter; develops, promotes, and implements the annual Salvationist Service Corps program.
The position shall minister to others according to the Doctrines and faith statements & standards of The Salvation Army.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of best practices for leading young adult programming at the Corps level. Knowledge of the best practices for leading young adult mission trips and service projects as a continuation of their spiritual journey and Christian formation as a Salvationist. Knowledge of The Salvation Army’s mission, philosophy, culture, and protocol. Knowledge of the Bible, doctrine, and theology. Knowledge of the principles and practices of youth program development, management, and promotion. Knowledge of the latest releases of Microsoft Word and Outlook software. Knowledge of basic formatting techniques used for producing publications to be displayed on the Internet. Ability to personally embrace, support and promote The Salvation Army mission and ministry in a manner that promotes events and programs. Ability to supervise, lead motivate and influence all those involved in participating, leading, and attending youth program events. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints. Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized. Ability to establish goals and objectives and monitor their effective implementation. Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment and exercise confidentiality. Ability to develop, write and promote resource materials for college and creative ministries. Ability to provide effective leadership to subordinates and maintain a variety of internal and external contacts. Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate policies, procedures, and protocols. Ability to represent The Salvation Army in a professional manner. Ability to build positive and professional relationships with divisional staff, corps leaders, and college students. Skill in monitoring budgets to ensure expenditures are in compliance with budget constraints. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction.
Education and Experience
Associate degree from an accredited college in a related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred, and Three years progressively responsible experience in youth event or program planning. Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Bon-a-fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ)
This position requires an active, uniform-wearing Salvationist in good standing.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to travel as needed throughout the Southern Territory to work with divisional staff and college campus programs. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 30 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Ability to meet attendance requirements Ability to read, write and communicate the English language Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations and analysis needed for statistical computations. Ability to operate and answer the telephone. Ability to make decisions and exercise judgment with limited or no supervision. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with the changes in weather except when involved in on-site camping programs or camp reviews.
