The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for an Education & Workforce Development Coordinator for the Center of Hope, located in Savannah, GA.

 

Job Summary

The Education and Workforce Program Coordinator works with the Director by coordinating, overseeing, and implementing the designed Education and Workforce program. Supervises and monitors the day-today activities of the Education and Workforce Development Center programming and ensures that operations run smoothly and in compliance with established procedures. Promotes awareness and support for the workforce development program attends community meetings and performs public speaking and represents The Salvation Army in a positive and professional manner. In coordination with the Director, implements and enforces program policies and procedures; prepares and updates procedure manual. Plans, coordinates, and/or facilitate classes to assist clients in obtaining skills that will enable them to implement the training received in the program. Interviews, accepts, and provides comprehensive, long-term, structured, complex, case management services for an assigned caseload of clients participating in the Education and Workforce program. Understands the uniqueness of the client's history in order to determine most effective program plans.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of program development. Knowledge of principles and practices of higher education, administration. Knowledge of social service resources and agencies in community. Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices. Skill in leading, supervision, and evaluation. Skill in public speaking. Ability to implement and enforce program policies and procedures. Ability to develop educational plans and goals. Ability to evaluate participant's progress toward goals. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines. Ability to evaluate program effectiveness and compliance with quality standards as well as the strategic plan of the organization. Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with staff, clients, and community agencies. Ability to prepare accurate and complete statistical reports representing the activity and progress of programs. Ability to respond to and attempt to resolve conflicts that may arise among the members and/or staff in a calm and professional manner. Ability to perform mathematical computations. Ability to perform public speaking.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Program Management, Social Services, or a related field, and two years’ experience planning, implementing, and managing program activities, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to travel throughout the community on a frequent basis to meet with current or prospective volunteers and center participants. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5 -10% of work time. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.   Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
