Codes & Approvals Project Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Codes & Approvals Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the successful completion of assigned projects, which includes; development and execution of plans and timelines, managing resources, final reporting, analysis of alternatives, communicating project status and adjustments. This position works with various domestic and international building code and compliance entities, along with third party testing & certification laboratories to achieve and maintain building code approvals to support the FiberTite Strategy which includes identifying unmet and evolving FiberTite building code needs.
The Project Coordinator will provide overall direction and leadership on complex projects for the FiberTite business. This position will fully implement and manage the operation and administration of assigned projects. This role is responsible for realizing a selected portfolio of strategically important projects with an important emphasis on growth and innovation. The Project Coordinator will provide functional leadership to various cross functional project teams consisting of engineering, new product development, product and system certification, planning & logistics, marketing, product management, etc.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize, plan and execute assigned projects on time and on budget, coordinate overall project; resources, schedule, scope, sample construction, deliverables, execution and final reporting.
- Achieve and maintain Building Code and Regulatory Approvals for FTR products on national and international levels to meet the needs of the market and maintain competitive edge.
- Ensure compliance with all code body audits: ensure audit manuals are current and accurate, all audit non-compliances are addressed and that all audits are conducted as required.
- Support and assist the FiberTite Technical and Sales Staff in addressing Codes questions from the field.
- Analyze competitive roof systems and products for technical performance and positioning. Develop technical and compliance countermeasures and alternative responses.
- Develops, implements, and maintains sources of project information, and communicates and distributes appropriate information to team
- Perform technical market analysis to develop business cases for new product or application opportunity
- Summarize data and respective information into tools for use by Sales, Marketing, Product Management & Technical Services.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with internal and external groups to identify, analyze, and proactively resolve issues
- Complete related tasks, as assigned by Codes & Approvals Manager, associated with new product/application/system initiatives.
- Serve, as assigned by Codes & Approvals Manager, as Seaman Representative at Industry Trade Organizations (i.e. ASTM, SPRI, CFFA/VRA), providing status reports following meetings and key developments.
- Fulfill related customer requests for product/system reports and/or certifications.
- Assist Codes & Marketing Managers in development of marketing/sales tools as required.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering; or prior experience in building codes for the roofing industry or with building codes is desired.
- Strong prioritization management and resource management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation skills.
- Prefer minimum 3 – 5 years Code Approvals and building codes or Project Management experience within commercial roofing or related commercial construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PMP Certification Preferred.
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
MATH ABILITY
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and Internet and Web-site use.
