The Center will offer multidisciplinary assessments and evaluations for children suspected of having a developmental disability, including autism.

Job Summary:
The Baker Victory Healthcare Center provides high quality care to our patients. The Certified Medical Coder-Billing is responsible for reviewing a patient’s medical records after a visit and translating the information into codes that insurers use to process claims from patients. Their duties include confirming treatments with medical staff, identifying missing information and submitting forms to insurers for reimbursement.
This position is part time and starts at the hourly rate of 18.22/per hour USD or higher depending on years of qualified experience.
Essential Job Duties:
- Reviews and analyses patient records and translates all diagnostic and procedural terminology.
-Ensures that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulations.
-Complies with medical coding guidelines and policies.
-Receives and reviews patients’ charts and documents for verification and accuracy.
-Follows up and clarifies any information that is not clear to other staff members.
-Collects information made by the Physician or other providers from different sources to prepare monthly reports.
-Maintain a good working relationship with collaborating Claims Representatives.
-Develop an overall good understanding of payer guidelines and act as the first contact point for all claim/physician reps with payer specific questions.
-Maintain payer-specific issue list
-Reviews all new insurance updates and disperses to proper providers/physicians/office staff.
- Meets with assigned physicians and non-physicians’ practitioners to review charges and denials in order to educate and insure the reduction in denials
-Implements strategic procedures and choosing strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results.
-Any other duty as assigned by your Supervisor.

Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Experience Required:
Medical coding: 1 year (Required)
License/Registration/ Certifications Required:
Coding Certification through AHIMA (CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC) (Required)
NYS Driver’s License

Physical Requirements:
•Strength: Sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring a patient, and perform CPR
•Mobility: Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop, and bend down to the floor; ability to move around rapidly; and to move in small, confined areas.
•Hearing: Sufficient to hear through the stethoscope to discriminate sounds; to hear cries for help; to hear alarms on equipment and emergency signals; and various overhead pages.
•Vision: Sufficient to make physical assessments of patients and equipment.
