St. Ann’s Community is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Life Enrichment team at St. Ann’s at Cherry Ridge Independent Housing and Assisted Living. The primary purpose of this role is to, under the direction of the Cultural Arts and Resident Services Manager, coordinate the overall process of Life Enrichment development and coordinating the Life Enrichment program at Cherry Ridge Assisted Living.

Job Description:
- Manage, prepare and organize the calendar of events for the Elders of Assisted Living at the Glen and Rainier Grove. The program of events will include the seven dimensions of wellness to provide entertainment, inter-communication, exercise, relationships and an opportunity to express talent and fulfill, psychological, spiritual needs of this population.
- Consults, guide, assists and delegates tasks to the Life Enrichment Assistants, Volunteers and Resident Care Aides in Assisted Living.
- Manage and support volunteer run activities to ensure compatibility and program success.
- Manage the intake process for Life Enrichment as required by DOH regulations and Cherry Ridge policy; to include the assessment, care plan and documentation. Utilizing the medical record system.
- Implements an activity schedule that considers and reflects age, sex, physical and cognitive capabilities, interest and the cultural and social background of the residents to include the seven dimensions of wellness; physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, environmental and occupational.
- Manage the website application the houses the calendar of events and attendance records. Will monitor and maintain the Assisted Living group list for attendance purposes.
- Prepares a monthly newsletter for Assisted Living. Provides weekly notifications and flyers to advertise upcoming programs. Life Enrichment Assistants to support development and delivery of newsletters and flyers.
- Build relationships between staff, residents, volunteer and families with the Eden philosophy through person centered interactions to combat the three plagues of older adults, loneliness, helplessness and boredom.
- Work with transportation to schedule monthly off campus outings, chaperone outings as necessary. Will work with Life Enrichment Assistants to provide support as needed.
- Manage entertainment for assisted living programs, working with outside venues to stay in the allotted budget.
- Participates in and contributes to the interdisciplinary care planning conferences that occur in the Assisted living or Memory Care unit.
- Ensures that information regarding changes in resident’s conditions affecting their need for personal and emotional care is communicated to the Resident Services Manager, Assisted Living Case Manager, Life Enrichment Assistants and Volunteers(as necessary)
- Facilitate Resident Council meetings which is directed by residents of The Glen, and serves as liaison responsible for taking minutes and emailing department managers and following up with the concerns for the next meeting.
- Ensures that enhanced level residents in the Glen have equal opportunity to participate in all activities to include assisting with transporting residents to / from activities.
- Periodically drives Cherry Ridge vehicle (car or bus) to assist in transportation of residents for activity.
- In collaboration with Resident Services Manager selects, hires, trains, reviews and supervises Life Enrichment Assistants.
Candidate Requirements:
- Two years of college with major work in recreation or a related field or two years of full-time experience in the recreation field with dependent adult population Preferred
- Valid NYS Driver's License
- Must have prior demonstrated ability and or experience in providing services to persons with dementia.
