Summary
Assist in the daily operations within one of the Recreation Divisions within the Parks & Recreation Department. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, supervise staff, interact with a diverse population of people, keep records, maintain equipment and be creative in problem solving and program development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as a liaison between neighborhood groups and community organizations to create relationships with the Wilson Park Recreation Center and Parks and Recreation Department
- Provides a comprehensive solution for issues by partnering with outside organizations and interdepartmental coordination
- Promotes Wilson Park Recreation Center programs and activities through active participation in community engagements
- Plans, organizes, and conducts educational and recreational programs for participants of all age groups
- Maintains records and prepares reports related to work assignments such as participation program proposals, end of program reports, daily usage/visitation, and survey results
- Tracks program success through surveys to ensure the needs of community are met
- Ensures safety for program participants
- Maintains inventory and requisitions supplies and equipment
- Supervises, trains, and assigns work to the Recreation Leader positions
- Establishes schedule and track hours for assigned team
- Coordinates and trains volunteers for programs and events
- Inputs programs into recreation registration software, web sites and related online programs and calendars
- Assists with the setup, cleanup, and breakdown of programs, events, and activities
- Follows administrative, financial, and safety policies
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation Administration, Health Promotion, Kinesiology or similar field of study
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field of study
- Two or more years of related parks and recreation experience
- Two or more years of progressive supervisory experience
- Work experience in municipal government and/or municipal or county level parks and recreation operations
- Bilingual in English & Spanish
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Driver’s License
- CPR/AED Certification - Preferred
- Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP) - Preferred
