Vascular Surgery Radiologic Technologist

Job Description

To provide nursing support for Vascular Surgery or clinic-wide, when requested. Radiologic Technologist must adhere to all policies and procedures of MMC and meet the needs of patient in a teamwork approach.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a surgical setting. Interactions with others in constant and interruptive.  There is possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to medical practice.  Varied activities including walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds), stooping, assisting patients and sitting for extended periods of time may occur.  Also, occasional stress from multiple responsibilities. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Represent MMC in a courteous and professional manner

  • Greet guests and incoming calls in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner

  • Be at your workstation on time and prepared to start the day

  • Email communication is utilized in this department for important messages and updates. Staff members are expected to read emails frequently.

  • Be flexible when asked to stay past your scheduled work time (as needed) to accommodate the needs of patients

  • Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate patient service

  • Meet or exceed patient, doctor, and staff expectations through a cooperative, teamwork approach

  • Operates and sets up Injector for contrast injections

  • Operates C-Arm during case

  • Prints C-Arm pictures or loads on CD, and loads into the MMC PACS system in digital format

  • Monitors Radiation Badges, lead aprons, eyeglass shields & thyroid collars (QA)

  • Prepare patients for Vascular Arteriogram procedures by assisting with patient transfer, positioning and prepping of groin.

  • Assists with other tasks in support of the day to day operation of the Vascular Surgery Angiography Suite. This may include clerical or non-nursing duties. (i.e. stocking of supplies, washing instruments, etc.)

  • Assist team members in preparing the OR for surgery including preparations for next day procedures

  • Completes all required paperwork.

  • With instruction, perform other duties as required or assigned

  • Sterilize and clean equipment after use

  • Utilize the Electronic Medical Record for all patient interactions and communication

  • Be knowledgeable and adhere to OSHA guidelines and MMC policies and procedures

  • With instruction, perform other duties as required or assigned

Education/Experience Requirements

  1. American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) registration required.

  2. State of Tennessee Registration required

  3. Basic Life Support certified

  4. Preferred experience in a Vascular Cath Lab.
