Data Systems Coordinator

Office of Emergency Management (OEM)

Hourly Pay Rate: $31.57 $36.67

Job Summary:  The Data Systems Coordinator under the supervision of the Manager of Data Analytics, will take a lead role in database administration, advanced report writing and data querying, developing policies and procedures for maintaining high data quality standards, managing overall system security and ensuring department HIPAA compliance. This role plays a critical role in maintaining the health and functionality of the data management system.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee administration of the ImageTrend Elite data system. Expand use of QA/QI and automation tools within ImageTrend. Identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications, document procedures, and lead data governance efforts.
  • Ensure system compliance with required local, state, and national standards. Develop policies and procedures for improving the accuracy and consistency of data collections efforts.
  • Develop and lead trainings on the general use and maintenance of ImageTrend at the agency-level, best practices for maintaining data quality, best practices for data security and HIPAA compliance, introduce new reporting tools and updates to local, state and national data standards.
  • Oversees all activities related to the development, implementation of, and adherence to OEM-EMS policies and procedures covering privacy of, and access to, patient health information in compliance with federal HIPAA regulations and state legislation
  • Perform advanced data queries and extractions using SQL and native report writing tools. Prepare Report Writer templates for stakeholders. Summarization and analysis of data may be required
  • Provide support for additional duties as needs arise.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current resident of the State of Wisconsin
  • Possess an active Wisconsin Driver's License, Insurance and reliable transportation which must be maintained throughout employment
  • Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets
  • Intermediate knowledge of DATABASES, DATA MARTS and other SQ applications
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in health informatics, data analytics, computer science
  • At least three (3) years of direct experience working with databases and/or data warehouses.
  • Current Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) OR Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by AHIMA or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.    

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Skilled at analysis/reasoning, communication/interpretation, math/mental computation, reading, sustained mental activity (i.e., auditing, problem solving, composing reports). Ability to maintain sensitive or confidential information, explain and gather information, answer queries, or aid internal and/or external contacts. Ability to persuade, conform or recommend course of action with internal and/or external contacts. Ability to perform with a high degree of authority in securing understanding and cooperation with internal and/or external contacts. Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, reports, short correspondence, and memos, speak effectively before both internal and/or external group. The ability to act as a leader and make informed/anticipated independent decisions quickly. The ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 20lbs
