Segra is searching for a dynamic and experienced FIBER CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER  to work within our TENNESSEE market between Knoxville and Johnson City (ex:  Knoxville, Greeneville, Morristown, and Johnson City).    

Fiber Construction Engineers are responsible for all aspects of fiber construction in the physical Outside and Inside Plant/ Engineering.  These personnel manage the entire life cycle of the project from kick-off to final as-built drawings.  

Projects may include customer orders, network expansion, overbuilds, municipal projects, etc.  Responsible for the on-going maintenance of the network fiber and are responsible for all emergency and trouble response tickets. 

Plans and prepares drawings for construction of new, and removal or rearrangement of existing, overhead or underground lines, cables, and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities this includes but not limited to: analyze traffic loads, available and existing infrastructures, and estimates or forecasts of projected traffic to determine new construction or rearrangements and removals required.

Also responsible for all electronic and manual mapping data input for company CMS (Cable Management Service) for some inner/external users to access.


  • Education:  Associates degree in electronics or technical field, and or three (3) equivalent work experience
  • Experience:   Minimum of four (4) years OSP construction and/or splicing or six (6) years of telephony experience. Must be familiar with company and industry OSP construction and splicing methods and procedures.
  • Key Competencies:  Must be able to multi-task; must have good mathematical aptitude; must be able to manage multiple projects and to manage multiple job budgets; must have can do attitude to negotiate and influence property owners and customer decisions relating to easement and land acquisitions.  Strong computer skills and strong analytical skills
