CMTA's Columbus office is seeking a Mechanical Department Manager with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Consulting Engineering to lead a team of engineers to design the mechanical aspects of energy-efficient buildings for various clients. The ideal candidate should have a self-motivated attitude, thrive on helping clients, and have strong technical expertise.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the mechanical engineering department.
  • Oversee the mechanical engineering team's design and delivery of projects, ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Manage the mechanical engineering team, including hiring, training, and mentoring staff.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring that their needs are met and that their expectations are exceeded.
  • Ensure that the mechanical engineering team adheres to all relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Review and approve mechanical engineering designs and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor project budgets and schedules to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work with other departments, such as electrical and plumbing, to ensure that all aspects of building design and construction are integrated and coordinated.
  • Conduct research and development activities to identify new products, materials, and technologies that could improve the mechanical engineering department's services.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices and ensure that the mechanical engineering team is also informed.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the mechanical engineering department.

Education:

A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering is required, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. The successful candidate should also have experience in project management and interfacing with clients.
