Breaking News and Public Safety Reporter

We’re looking for a digital-savvy reporter who writes clearly, takes initiative and has the confidence to develop relationships with a diverse range of sources. 

Daily responsibilities include writing and reporting, taking photos, shooting video, and staying on top of our digital delivery.

This reporter will be primarily responsible for breaking news and public safety/crime coverage, working a mid-afternoon to late evening shift Sundays through Thursdays. But this position will also receive multiple opportunities to cover local government stories.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments and who is comfortable working part of their shifts with minimal supervision.

The Journal Times, which is part of Lee Enterprises, is an award-winning daily newspaper in southeast Wisconsin. We emphasize local content and a strong digital culture.

We cover an urban, suburban and rural area. Racine County sits between Milwaukee and Chicago, and the City of Racine’s downtown is along the shores of Lake Michigan.
