A New Leaf’s East Valley Men’s Center is a safe haven for men facing homelessness as they re-integrate into the community. Our dedicated staff help residents build skills for job readiness, assist with finding employment and develop a plan for permanent housing. A New Leaf strongly believes in offering a hand up to men willing to put in the effort to improve their lives. Through stable living, comprehensive services, and compassionate attention to the challenges each man faces, A New Leaf helps men experiencing homelessness find their feet and become contributing members of the community once again.

Hourly Pay Rate: $16 - $ 19 + DOE
Location: Mesa, AZ
Schedule: part-time, evenings, weekends
*Required to complete our "New Hire Orientation" held on the first work week of employment, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm; subject to change upon completion of orientation requirements which may grant early release of orientation before Friday; orientation not offered evenings or weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: 

  • High school diploma or GED, required
Experience:
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Trauma Informed Care, preferred
  • Experience working with homeless or economically disadvantaged population, preferred
  • Committed to teamwork and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Document (verbal/written) and submit significant and routine paperwork such as shift reports, daily activities, special concerns, client entry/exit forms, etc.
  • Answer and screen phone calls (multiple lines) and be able to provide resources/screening crisis calls.
  • Assist with the introduction of program and facility orientation.
  • Brief residents on program rules, expectations, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in resident supervision on a regular basis as required by state law and A New Leaf policy.
  • Provide varied verbal and physical crisis interventions as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining program appearance; cleanliness and maintenance of agency physical plant, equipment and/or agency vehicles.
  • Prepare and/or assist with meal/snack preparation serving, and cleanup. Responsible for overseeing and coordination of Volunteer Meal Program.
  • Able to operate 12-15 passenger vehicles, when necessary. May be required to pick up and transport donations to the Shelter and/or our Donation Center.
  • Monitor security of the property through quarterly hour ground checks.

Compliance:

  • Must be able to pass various background checks
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Current auto liability insurance
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
