What work will I perform at Landstar?

We are seeking a Payables Specialist that will be working in our international freight department. As a Payables Specialist you will be authorizing international freight payments for ocean and air, working in multiple systems to accurately enter this information in a manual fast paced environment. This is not a production environment, and the most important thing is accuracy. The ideal candidate will have payables, reconciliation, and/or accounting in their background.

Experience needed for the role.

• Timely, accurate audit and payment of carrier and vendor invoices
• Communicate with agents, carriers, and other outside parties regarding payment inquiries and discrepancies.
• Research and resolve payable discrepancies.
• Process adjustments to carrier rates
• Answer incoming phone calls within the department call queue.
• Verification and mailing of carrier statements/checks
• Other duties as assigned.

What you need to bring to Landstar

• Excellent organizational skill
• Above average analytical and math skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, primarily Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to work in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
• Accurate data entry skills, 88kpm
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Six months previous Accounts Payable experience
