Sr. Electrical Engineer
Iteris Development Group is looking for a Sr. Electrical Engineer, to join our hardware design team. The group is embarking on an exciting period in our growth and is looking for innovative team players with a ‘make-it-happen’ attitude. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of new products from concept to production. Managing the evaluation, recommendation and implementation of designs and strategies for products, systems, features, or enhancements.
What you will be doing:
- Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of electricity and materials
- Confirms system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods, testing properties
- Develops electrical products by studying customer requirements, researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials
- Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities
- Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations
- Completes projects by training and guiding technicians
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Act as a liaison to other engineering functions and other departments (Operations, Sales and Marketing, Product Support)
- Prepare reports on team/project progress
- Coordinate design reviews and other development reviews as necessary
- Manage field and production issues and drive resolution of problems
- Minimal travel may be required
What you need to be successful in this role:
- B.S. in an Electrical Engineering, Masters preferred
- Minimum 5 years of general hardware development and test experience
- Minimum 5 years working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies
- 5+ years of experience with embedded systems design and embedded software applications
- 5+ years of experience with designing or developing electro-mechanical devices, FPGA design and Power Supply design
- 2+ years of experience with FCC, NEMA, CE or similar approvals
- Video transmission, encoding, decoding, streaming - analog and digital
- Standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the product development field. (Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, Kanban)
- MS and Linux OS environments
