What We Need 

FLEETCOR is currently looking to hire a Database Administrator Leader within our Corporate Overhead division based outside the Atlanta area. This position falls under our information security line of business. In this role, the Database Administrator Leader will be responsible for interacting with the Management, Development, and Support teams. This person would own all facets related to the database from operations, optimization and troubleshooting. This candidate must also develop and apply an in-depth understanding of company and industry best practice methodologies, policies, standards, and controls to participate in all database life management phases.

Role Responsibilities 

The responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Leading a team of DBAs which include technologies from Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, Informix DB, Progress OpenEdge RDBMS, Microsoft Azure DB etc.
  • Team maintains On-Prem and Cloud Database 24X7 environments
  • Tune queries to improve performance; Work with developers and suggest ways to improve performance
  • Troubleshooting performance problems within On-prem and Cloud environments and suggest resolutions
  • Ensure availability and performance of all databases
  • Review, update and document disaster recovery strategy
  • Create and maintain indexes
  • Advise developers on the most efficient database designs
  • Find and resolve database integrity issues
  • Monitor Database Server Performance
  • Administer AWS jobs, alerts and backups; Ability to write alert scripts which monitor DB specific situations
  • Deployment of database change scripts
  • Support internal and external users with ad-hoc queries relating to regulatory reporting
  • Work with Security team to maintain PCI/PA-DSS compliance


Qualifications & Skills 

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, related degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of leading a DBA Operations Team
  • Expert Troubleshooting skills and will lead others and build up a team for the future
  • Understanding of columnar databases e.g. RedShift
  • Must have expertise with MySQL and AWS Cloud Database technologies including migration to AWS Cloud Technologies
  • Will take over an incident call and look at the problem from a system level not just database level
  • Can develop a DBA team of SMEs who take initiative and responsibility
  • Experience with Database Replication Technologies
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with others in a team environment
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving skills
  • Troubleshoot service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends
  • Strong sense of personal accountability for results
  • Experience with AWS Aurora, a plus but not required
  • Experience with ETL tools, a plus but not required
  • Experience with Oracle EBS and Oracle Forms and Reports, a plus but not required
