POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Technician will work closely with the Production Department’s Senior Production Manager & Systems and Content Manager in day-to-day production and technical tasks related to entertainment, sports and private events held at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, NV. This will include assisting with the planning, set up, maintenance, troubleshooting and ensuring the proper operation of all venue production equipment, technical systems and infrastructures. The Production Technician will be involved in working alongside the production, business and tenant sports teams along with our outside clients to ensure all events held at TDLC are successfully executed in a timely and professional manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain, troubleshoot and assist with the proper operational status of building Audio, Video & Lighting systems and infrastructures

• Set up and operate small portable audio systems as needed for one-off press conference, meetings, etc.

• Assist and oversee fiber video and analog audio patching and routing throughout the building as needed for tenant and third-party events and TV broadcasting trucks

• Assist with production equipment set-up and/or labor supervision for concerts and third-party public and private entertainment and business events as needs dictate

• Operation of House Lights for TDLC events as needed

• Occasional operation of video and/or audio equipment for TDLC events as needed

• Set up, test and maintain sport scoring systems hardware (Daktronics All Sport, scorer’s table, goal lights, game clocks, stats computers, etc.) for tenant and third-party sporting events

• Set up and maintain microphones and media press bridge for post-game press conferences

• Troubleshoot, repair and replace video display panels and parts as needed

• Assist as needed in pre-planning/prepping production and technical requirements and equipment for events

• General maintenance, cleaning and repair of A/V/L systems and equipment

• Other duties as assigned

 

PREFERRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

• Working to advanced knowledge of video systems including:

o Video Switchers (i.e., Ross Carbonite with Touch Drive, NewTek Tricaster, etc.)

o Clips/Playback systems (i.e., Evertz DreamCatcher CD-Playout, etc.)

o Instant Replay systems (i.e., Evertz DreamCatcher DC-One, etc.)

o CG/Lower Thirds systems (i.e., Ross Xpression, etc.)

o Broadcast cameras and control systems (i.e., SMPTE hybrid wired, Waves Central wireless, Hitachi control, Sony PTZ, etc.)

o Video routers (i.e., Evertz EUX, etc.)

o Video displays (i.e., Daktronics LED walls, ribbons, etc.)

o Digital signage systems (i.e., IPTV, UCView, Daktronics Show Control & Venus, OnSign, BrightSign, Samsung, etc.)

o Sports scoring systems integration, scorebugs and stats (i.e., Daktronics, All Sport, CG, CharaterWorks, Venus, etc.)

o Ability to load digital content into multiple video playback systems

• Working to advanced knowledge of audio systems including:

o Digital and analog audio consoles (.i.e., DigiCo, Mackie, etc.)

o Signal distribution and processing (i.e., QSC Q-Sys, Extron, Dante and 70V systems)

o Intercoms (i.e., Riedel, Clear Comm, etc.)

• Working to advanced knowledge of lighting systems including:

o Lighting consoles (I.e., GrandMA, Chamsys, etc.)

o Protocols (i.e., DMX, Musco, Art-Net, etc.)

o Fixtures (i.e., Musco, Clay Paky, Vari-Lite, etc.)

• Working to advanced knowledge of general networking protocols including:

o Networked audio and video signal distribution, including NDI, and lighting systems control

• Working to advanced knowledge of multi-unit projections systems including:

o Projectors (i.e., Christie, Barco, etc.)

o Media servers (i.e., Pandora’s Box, Coolux, etc.)

o Control interfaces (i.e., Widget Designer)

• Capability in one or more of the following disciplines a plus:

o FOH Audio Engineer

o Lighting Director/Board Operator and Spotlight Operator

o Video Engineer/Control Room Operator (i.e., switcher, clips, replay, CG, shading, etc.)

o Rigging (i.e., high/down)

o Master Electrician (i.e., show power, power distros, shore power)

• Forklift and scissor lift certifications preferred

• OSHA 10 certification preferred

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/JOB QUALIFIATIONS

• Experience working with Broadcast and Live Event Production Environments with knowledge of audio, video, lighting and/or projection

• Extensive knowledge of audio and video signal flow

• Meticulous troubleshooting skills

• Good Communication Skills – interpersonal and verbal

• Problem Solver, Creative, Detail Orientated, Team Player

• Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with clients and colleagues

• Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance

• Ability to make independent and good judgement decisions within policies and procedures

• Acute sense of judgement

• Ability to calmly prioritize time sensitive technical issues in real time to resolve quickly

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s or similar degree in applicable field, experience may substitute for education

• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience with similar technical and broadcasting equipment and production operations in similar facilities and environments

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/DUTIES

• Must be available and willing to work extended and irregular hours as needed including nights, weekends, and holidays as business dictates

• Ability to work in dark, bright, smoky, dusty, cold and/or confined spaces

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and push/pull items with or without assistance

• Able to walk/stand/sit for prolonged periods of time

• Occasional working at heights or on ladders

• Comfortable working around large crowds

• Exposure to high noise levels

• Ability to communicate via radio

• Other duties as assigned
