Manager Technical Services Role
This hybrid position leads a team responsible for design, implementation, administration, and support of the computing infrastructure required for SunStream and association distributed systems services and applications. Develops and establish best practices, processes, and procedures to meet or exceed defined customer service levels.
Essential Duties
Systems Administration
- Develops, implements, and communicates policies and procedures to ensure network components are functioning properly
- Configures, manages, and maintains existing Windows Server operating systems, including installed roles and related infrastructure
- Configures, manages cloud-based services used for office products, Dev Ops, IaaS and infrastructure as code
- Leads and manages network and telecommunications
Infrastructure Maintenance
- Performs day-to-day maintenance as necessary or scheduled, often during non-business hours
- Ensures proper system backup
- Maintains and supports third-party applications running on SunStream infrastructure
- Deploys software updates
- Oversees design, selection and security of
- Firewalls, Switches, routers, wireless
- Ensures appropriate controls are in place to comply with SOC, ICFR and other regulatory and audit needs.
Infrastructure Design
- Installs, configures and deploys new client server applications and services
- Consults with users and evaluates requirements, recommends designs, provides cost analyses, plans projects, and coordinates tasks for installation of cloud and on premise infrastructure
Leadership
- Selects, develops, motivates, and evaluates the performance of Systems Engineers and Network Analysts
- Determines division of responsibilities, including project assignments
- Provides work guidance and direction
- Recommends and implements performance standards
- Sets individual goals with team members
Network Implementation Oversight
- Plans, tests, recommends, and implements network, file server, mainframe and workstation hardware and software to maintain system integrity and effectiveness
- Establishes user profiles, user environments, directories and security for networks being installed
- Provides network documentation, training, and guidance to network users and programmers
Team Project Management
- Authors policies and standard operating procedures governing project management and implementation
- Determines project deliverables and project ownership
- Works with project owner to establish tasks and timeline in order to achieve desired outcomes
New Technologies
- Researches, evaluates, tests and recommends new technologies that will enhance the performance of SunStream networks
Incidents and Service Requests
- Analyzes and resolves technical problems for established systems
- Manages incidents and service requests to promptly remedy problems and meet service level agreements
Relationship Management
- Shares information with association staff on technology direction, implementation, problems and lessons learned through annual events and visits
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field
- 10 years of related experience
- 3 years of supervisory experience
- Microsoft Administration/Engineer (Level Certifications), Microsoft Server and Networking Certifications
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Expert skill in Microsoft Active Directory Domain and Forest Structure
- Expert skill in Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems in VMWare
- Expert skill in Microsoft Security, to include Group Policy, Permissions and Privileges
- Expert skill in Microsoft Server Roles – DNS, DHCP, File/Print
- Expert skill in cloud implementation and deployment including DevOps and infrastructure as code.
- Expert skill in managing projects and support using Microsoft ADO.
- Expert skill in Microsoft Azure and M365
- Working skill in Microsoft System Center
- Working skill in Microsoft SharePoint
- Working skill in Microsoft Exchange
- Expertise in infrastructure security
- Working knowledge of the fundamentals of networking and remote access
- Skill in planning and coordinating large/complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Expert customer service skills, including the ability to communicate complicated information, deliver bad news effectively, and exceed customer expectations
- Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor and customers
- Working knowledge of budgeting and accounting
- Skill in analyzing complex technical data by using logic and quantitative reasoning
- Responsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of SunStream and client systems and data.
