Health Promotion Specialist II

Clatsop County occupies the northwest corner of Oregon bounded to the north by the Columbia River and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. Named for the Clatsop Indians, Clatsop County is rich in history, scenery and opportunity.

Seeking one health education/promotion professional to promote health and disease prevention activities including community outreach, education, and mobilization to achieve public health program goals. The successful applicant will research, develop, and monitor grants that address prevention and related chronic disease and also develop and implement policy systems and environmental change strategies that focus on best practice health promotion.

 

Requires Bachelor’s degree with major course work in health education, health promotion, public administration, public policy, or related field and three years’ experience as an educator or in any other professional role related to the development and promotion of health programs. Requires a minimum of two years’ experience conducting community outreach, organizing, educating in public health, or any satisfactory equivalent experience and training.

 

Desirable qualifications include Master’s degree in public health or related graduate degree, Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and/or Certified Prevention Specialist. Spanish proficiency a plus..
