NETWORK SUPPORT TECHNICIAN – FORT BRAGG, NC.
 
The candidate for this position will work within our team to support our government Information Technology (IT) program with our Fort Bragg client. As a Network Support Technician, you will help ensure successful operations and maintenance of the Information and Infrastructure systems for Fort Bragg and all remote sites.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
  • Configure, install, troubleshoot, repair and replace network switch elements in end user facilities.
  • Program, install, troubleshoot, repair and replace VoIP instruments. 
  • Install telephone termination blocks, equipment and cross-connects. 
  • Install Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) phones, wall phones, mine phones and other telephony related support equipment. 
  • Install various types of cable and wire (i.e., CAT-6, T1, fiber optic) and peripheral devices to support Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) infrastructure.
  • Perform secure cable drop installations for Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) including small-scale Protected Distribution Systems (PDS) moves, adds, changes, and installations for Electric Metallic Tubing (EMT) or HOLOCOM type PDS systems.
  • Connect and test appropriate equipment connected as a result of cable installation.
  • Test all cabling end to end with a FLUKE test set or equivalent (approved by NEC) and provide test results within five (5) calendar days of test completion to the Government for verification. Perform software upgrades and configuration changes on network equipment at EUB level only.
  • Successfully terminate various types of copper connectors.
  • Install pathways, bonding and grounding and fire stopping.
  • Apply applicable codes, standards and best practices.
  • Successfully interpret drawings, plans and specifications to properly install telecommunications equipment.
  • Properly test and troubleshoot optical fiber installations.
  • Consult with the customer on media selection and implications for implementation on the network.
  • Make recommendations to the customer based on applicable codes, standards and best practices.
  • Interpret the job plan and scope of work as well as perform retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure.
Physical Requirements

  • May require frequent computer use for several hours at a time
  • Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions

Candidate Requirements:
  • Must have CompTIA Security + prior to hire.
  • Ability to obtain a Cisco Certified Network Associate CCNA or Juniper Networks Internet Associate JNCIA within three months of hire date. 
  • Must be able to obtain BICSI INST1 within 6 months of hire date.
